Four Characteristics of Computer Desks

Desks have very long and varied history. Working class and monks are using desks as functional pieces of furniture and also as decorative pieces by royalty for themselves as well as for their clerks. The desks have done to increase function and to be pleasing to eyes when they are evolved. There is new style of desk available these days in the form of computer desk which was not in use about 30 years ago. Sliding keyboard shelf is one of the most helpful features on computer desk. These shelves are hooked under main desk surface and can be slide when in use. The good thing about the keyboard shelf is that the surface of the keyboard can be cleared and you can keep it safe until you need it to free up your work space. The other good thing is that the keyboard is kept ergonomically friendly position in this shelf. You can be natural and comfortable with your hands and arms a few inches lower than the top.
There should be an out of the way place for main CPU because you might need to place your CPU separate unless can have all in one computer, monitor or laptop. It can be good thing to have place where you can place your CPU instead of placing it on top of your desk. You can place it on the floor but you should avoid doing it. There is lower shelf available in most desks where you can place your monitor and it can also provide space for your printer.
There should be enough space for computer and other long hand work. You might need some work surface in order to do many things even though you do most of your work on computer. This problem is addressed by designing desks in different ways. There are larger executive style desks available for this problem which can provide enough space your monitor. There is small shelf built up bit from main work space to your monitor. It can be often seen on computer carts with foot print and corner desks. This problem is also solved with L shaped desks which can provide two work areas one for computer and other for work.
The storage capacity for peripheral, discs, books and computer programs should also be offered by the desks. You might need to keep many things near by even with work on computer. There are drawers and cabinets provided in these desks along with hutches on the top of desk. There are special racks built in these desks which can hold different items like discs. You should make sure about the storage provided by the desks before purchasing.
